Technique

* Fabric
The fabrics used in Jogakbo are Korea's traditional natural materials. The most common types that are used are ramie, and silk ( 'Ok-sa' and 'Meoung- ju). They are usually dyed organically but for efficiency and mass production, chemical dye is used as well.

* Sewing
Sewing techniques are different depending on the fabric but other than 'Meoung- ju' (silk), a technique called, 'Si- jeup' is commonly used. This requires one to fold in the the edges of the fabric before sewing. In Jogakbo, since these folded sides are sewn back and forth, one cannot tell the front or back.

Traditional Jogakbo was entirely handmade which consumed an incredible amount of time. However, modern Jogakbo production uses a combination of machine and hand stitching for mass production.

* Installation
Depending on the design of Jogakbo, installation ways can vary. For shades, it is held by a pole then installed on the ceiling. For small pieces on windows, double sided tape made for Jogakbo is attached on the four corners of the piece for easy installation. There are numerous other ways install Jogakbo depending on one's preference.
